Gustavsen Transport AS is a family-owned transport company based in Larvik with roots going back to 1967, when Karl Johan Gustavsen started the business with a single truck hauling granite. Today, with Karl-Gustav Edland Gustavsen at the helm, the operation looks considerably different: 25 semi-trailers, 2 tank trucks, specialist trailers for machines, elements and cranes, vans and a 2000m² terminal complete with workshop and wash bay.

The fleet covers an exceptionally broad range of work, from construction logistics and specialist heavy transport to milk collection, stone haulage and general freight across Norway. Being Miljøfyrtårn certified and operating under Fair Transport principles, Gustavsen also holds themselves to a higher standard on sustainability and working conditions.

The starting point: looking for a modern challenger.

Gustavsen Transport had been searching for a simple, modern and cloud-based system for their industry for some time. The options they had seen were either too complex, too rigid or not built for the realities of specialist transport. Then FleetX appeared, an unfamiliar name at the time.

The evaluation was thorough. A demo, conversations with existing FleetX customers and a few rounds of internal discussion. Then they took the chance.

Orders flow from intake to invoice in one connected workflow, with customers accessing order tracking, proof of delivery and invoices directly through the FleetX portal.

Karl-Gustav also made an honest observation about where the real friction lies. The system itself is not the bottleneck. The bigger challenge is an industry that still operates in some ways as it always has. FleetX can only go as far as the people around it are willing to move.

The impact that stood out most was not internal efficiency alone but customer behaviour. Because the customer-side order booking is simple and intuitive, Gustavsen saw a significant increase in customers choosing to book online rather than calling in. That shift reduces admin load, speeds up order intake and gives the operation a more professional face to clients.

The ability to manage the business from anywhere was equally important for a company running a diverse fleet across a broad geographic area.
